About Me

Hi, I'm Gordon! Recently, I graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a Masters in Mechanical Engineering and am now looking for an opportunity to take the next big step in my professional career. I thrive on decomposing complex engineering challenges and creating intuitive solutions to tackle them. My academic journey has been driven by an intense curiosity and a desire to better the world around me.
In my free time I enjoy the outdoors with back-country skiing, hiking or bouldering. My passion project is my 1992 NA Miata which spends most of its life in the garage where I work on it, although I hope to compete in autocross if I can get it running properly.
I am an extremely quick learner and am looking for a position where I can learn from like minded people and apply myself to the fullest extent.
My Skills
My Projects

Design and development of soft robotic gripper for the purpose of manipulating plastic straws. Actuator parameters optimized and selected through parameter sweeping. Resin molds fabricated and gripper prototyped with performance evaluated.
Evaluation of numerous electrode configurations for performing IRE Ablation Procedure. Electrode spacing and sizing tested using Comsol cell death modeling to optimize design. Preliminary modeling of catheter based design performed.

Design of compound gear train to achieve 12:1 reduction ratio within 22 millimeter casing. Gear combinations computationally established and then validated and selected using gear stress analysis. Casing modeled for selected configuration.
Proof of concept manufacturing process capable of creating slits in plastic straw developed, designed, and prototyped for external customer. Project carried from concept generation to preliminary testing. Achieved 1st Place in Senior Design.

Design of angiographic balloon catheter intended for drug delivery to pulmonary arteries. Developed to functional requirements with materials sourced from commercially available suppliers.
Creation of project plan and kick off presentation covering scope, work breakdown structure, schedule, recovery, risk management and cost management for deployment of a manufacturing product line.
Evaluation of existing nonlinear models that simulated dynamics of cancer growth and treatment. Fixed point and bifurcation analysis conducted for untreated and chemotherapeutically treated tumors.

Feasibility of using polymer screw evaluated for pediatric fracture fixation. Bone screw designed and analyzed using computation and finite element analysis. Uniaxial tensile testing performed on prototype.
Design and prototyping of catheter hub that enabled the injection of contrast while immobilizing guidewire with hemostatic lock with adherence to FDA guidelines. Physical prototype manufactured and tested.
